Latest TR Drivers Club Mag

Postby john 215 » 15 Sep 2011 06:30

Hi,

Just got my latest addition of this great mag. Not had time to read it yet but National weekend report, lots of other shows pictures and reports, good articles by 'our' Mr John Wood on his Sprint, plus looks like a intresting article on TPA paint system.

Well done to all involved

Cheers John

Got my copy yesterday as well, got a shock to see my ugly mug on the back cover!

Good mag as usual, the TPA article is interesting, my 2L FHC still wears it's Cavalry Blue TPA which has probably only survived so well due to the car being garaged all it's life.

Only one car advertised for sale but what an example - a one owner, 6K mile Speke FHC. Someone stop Roy H from buying it, he's got enough to do already [:D] Interesting to see the asking price as well, I don't think it's too high for such a good low mileage example.

Still, enough from me, read your own copy!

I've seen that very damage on the TPA paint of Jim Tencate's car. It is very surprising.

I think this latest issue is the best for a long time (and there have been a lot of good ones). The best looking feature is Steve Jackson's Mylchreest Motors article - really historic. Well done Steve.

And well done Howard - your design work is exceptional - outstanding even.

My car still has it's TPA paint (complete with TPA sticker on left turret). Unfortunately it was stored for 7 years under a tarp so the bonnet is mottled (called marbled by the lady that owned it). The rear deck by the gas cap is crackled but it still looks good in pictures and if it has lightly rained the rain sits in little blobs and you can't see a thing. Still too good to repaint

Just watch the cracked / mottled spots. Lurking under them is surface rust. The primer under there absorbs water like a sponge. The bonnet, the boot, and the filler panel had surface rust when I stripped mine, all in the same places where the paint was mottled.
