Hi,

As some of you gents who visit the TR Reg forum will know, a gent on there has been working on these and are now on his web site. bigeers than standard and have a drain plug [:)]

They indeed look very nice.
An interesting option for the Sprint once I have the Fuel injection fitted [8D]

Shouldnt those things be homologated for road use?

What would MOT guy say on a handmade fuel tank?



I know that anything is better than 20 year old leaky and rusty stock fuel tank. But what stops you from changing any other part of the car the same way?

Hi,

As a MOT tester, as long as secured ok,not leaking or affecting another part of the car ie. brakes or suspesion. It would pass a UK test

And over here I think one would have to hide it in plenty of under-seal goo...

If it had been made in the oem material; steel (or black powder coated stainless [8D] ) it wouldn't
attract any unwanted attention. But bright shiny aluminium, or stainless, would definitely attract
attention from any tester or scrutineer. And they'd start asking questions on crash test stamps/E-
markings etc... I know the DeLorean crowd have huge problems with their (non E-marked!) plastic
tanks - and changing the tank to a made up metal one is just as problematic.

Wow! For that amount of money I'd want to see my new shiny tank. It's a shame it has to go under the car.

At least I get to see the tailpipe of my S/S exhaust......

We don't have any kind of MOT/safety test here.
You could run a hose from a bucket of gas in the passenger seat if you wanted.
Granted it wouldn't be legal but until it caught on fire no-one would check![:0]

What a great tank, a definate plus with the extra capacity, especially for touring with a V8. A definate winter project.[:)]

We still don't know if it accepts the '8 twin exhaust pipes - or if that's where he found the extra volume...
