I had a similar experience when I took 'Var' for the mot, rolled in with the new look satin paint job, mouths dropped and all the inspectors decided it was time for their cup of tea[:D]
The good news was that it passed all the required tests on the day[^]
Good luck with your mot lad[;)]

If anyone is wondering where Ruby is[?] She is on the back burner while I work on the Eight[:0]

Same thing with mine the other week Gaz.
Turned out it was the washer pump, took it off and gave it a couple of taps on the worktop, put it back on and hey presto it worked again [:)].
I love simple fixes [:D].

when i took it the window wash wasn't working and the fog lights wern't either neither were the indicators that was because it needed the alternator and the auto elec. wasn't able to get there today but thats all it failed on so tommorow it should have a new MOT i would call that a result[:D][:D][:D]

I don't really think its bad going as i drove it all through the winter an it sat in the open on my driveway and i havent spent a penny on it until now since billing last year when the alternator went

Hi Gary,

My car sort of failed on Hazard lights not working last week. I was able to take the rail out holding all the switches and it was quite clear why the Hazard lights didn't work, the switch was all gunked up with growth on the copper connectors - luckily I had a spare switch with me and was able to do the replacement and gain my MOT.

I think its probably down to lack of use.

Cheers

Ian

Mine passed its MOT a couple of months ago but did have a couple of probelms with the emmissions [:(].

I dont use mine in the winter so intend to have the MOT done again in November, by doing that im guranteed she will be on the road for the summer and if anything big did need doing then I have all winter to get it sorted.[:D]

Exactly! I MOT my car last day of August - for 13 months of ticket (it's due end September - I moved it forward to there a couple of years ago), and thus no worries in June when I put it on the road for the summer.
And yes - the Hazards can fail due to lack of use - I spray the switch with WD40 couple of times each year - and make a point of testing the Hazards each time I get the car out.
