Adam,
I got both mountings from Rimmers, the TR8 one (TKC2642) is definately much harder than the TR7 one (TKC1044). I think the Molyslip has reduced the axle noise conciderably & the new mounting has helped by not transmitting any remaining noise /vibration into the car. The difference is really quite amazing. I can now see the gear lever moving about a bit as the engine moves.
I didn't mention before but I also used some gearbox remote housing bushes between the gearbox subframe & the tunnel when I bolted it back in, this is also dampening out noise/vibration. I used a double locknut on the studs as you can't tighten them up quite as much without destroying the bushing.

Thanks Andy,

That's good to know. It sounds like a job for the winter months. I do very little motorway work which is when its most noticeable. An 8 is more fun on A and B roads[:)]

With polybushes as well on the remote gear housing, my gearstick doesn't move at all with the engine torque. The gearbox rubber had no give when I fitted it, I just thought it was a heavy duty item. There are rumours that an overhard batch were made. I'd swear I can hear the anti-rattle spring rattling in first gear.
