Jim,
I hope that my car won't be too high. I'm putting in the uprated, 1" lowered springs. That should keep the back about where it is and raise the front an inch or two. Before I began disassembly, I made careful baseline measurements of center of wheel to top of arch, and bottom of sills to garage floor When I complete the job in April, I'll compare my measurements and post my results.

Here's one of my old springs. I don't believe it was a factory spring; I think the P.O. installed "brand x" lowered springs and then the springs proceeded to lower themselves some more.

I would say looking at the picture that the spring is damaged. The top looks very bent out of shape, probably why your car sat so low.

I have just replaced my uprated lowered springs with the orignal stock ones the car came with.

The uprated springs were too firm and uncomfortable, the front did not lower and the height was actually increased, the rears did lower, so overall the car didn't look right.

The main problem with the original set up was that the front shocks has lost all gas so didn't do anything.

I don't think the springs are "damaged" but have been heated and reformed to lower the front end which it was....too much.

TSI tells me that there were lowered springs on the market some years ago that failed under use. My old springs have about one less wrap than the stock springs pictured in the "How to Improve Triumph TR7 & TR8" book; I tend to think they were a poor aftermarket spring. It doesn't appear that my old springs were torched, unless they were repainted too. I'll try the new uprated springs; if I don't like the stance or the ride, I guess I'll be looking at something else. Have to wait until my April trip to Oregon to see.
