They where talking about Bob's 100% developed TR8 but when Bob was complaining about being the only car assessed a 400 lb. weight penalty he said "It's not my fault I have developed my car to 80% and the others have only developed their car to 60%". Seems he had more to go. As this race was in 1979, a development year, it seems he did as the next year he took six out of the seven races in Trans Am series failing in the last race to take a clean sweep when he was deliberately knocked out by a slower car with the result of that racer losing his racing licence.

Great video fella, love to drive down 'the corkscrew' and the TR8 is by far the best looking car on that track

Got to agree with you big-time on that John [^]. Even when compared to more modern super cars, the Group 44 TR8 wins hands down in the looks department every time [}:)]. A proper head turning beast of a car [}:)] [:D].

If only leyland had a bit of money & imagination & offered a street friendly version of the G44 bodykit on an RS version of the TR7 & 8!

Peter. If only I had the money [:(], one of them Group 44 bodykits would be on it's way to me now [;)].

My thoughts exactly but I think you would need at least a V8 in there to match the aggressive style (no TR7). Nothing you could do to a streetable slant 4 with what was available back in the day would suffice.

I had heard an anecdote one time about a race that Tulius, in the TR8 was far enough ahead that he pulled in for fuel during the last few laps simply to guarantee that he would be well over the weight minimum during scrutineering, and therefore try to avoid any more penatly weight being added to the TR8. This may have been that race.

Clay,

I have over 200 pictures of the #4 & #44 car (shhhh......dont tell anyone! [;)] ) plus talked with Lanky Foushee, Jay Fox, Bob Tullius, John Lyster and Glen Sullivan who all were involved with the car in great lengths. The cars have such an interesting history and both cars are really different too.

Clay heres an article I found on the Wedge Shop forum. It has a little info about the cars but not too much detail. It also confirms what Shawn said about the weight. It's always nice to read a positive article about the much maligned wedge.
