raydyot bullet mirrors

Postby catmanboo » 13 Feb 2011 18:22

having acquired a pair of genuine Raydyots some years ago, & having acquired a genuine Brit-mobile some years later, I'm curious as to their potential use on the TR7 currently undergoing renovation. which cars were these most often used on, or were they sold as an aftermarket item? they aren't exactly weatherproof, & need to be sealed up prior to seeing the weather- so I found out after they got submerged in the basement flood a few years ago. how (if ever) was this issue addressed back in the day[?] any input appreciated![8D]

Hi we fitted these mirrors to our 7 in place of the original mirrors but we found them absolutley useless you could not get decent vision at all with them,
Many years ago I had them fitted on the front wings, fenders,of a Sunbeam Rapier and they were reasonable if my memory is correct but on the doors,no good.
Not sure how best to make them watertight though,if you are going to fit them may be best to get a stainless steel set.
Cheers
