Mine is the same colour as the body, but then I very rarely have it fitted. I prefer the wind on the bald patch.

Your hardtop looks like one of the original Lenham ones with side opening windows. I believe Lenham may still be around, but I understand Rimmers bought the manufacturing rights, moulds etc for the TR7. I think Rimmers may still list it. The opening side windows are a nice touch and were deleted quite early in production presumably to reduce costs. Any chance ypu could show some close ups of your side windows, hinges, fastners etc, as I have often thought about the possibility of adapting the fixed windows on mine? Regards supercass

I'll see what I can do.

The hardtop lives on the side wall of the garage, strung up and wrapped in a blanket during the summer (thats October to April more or less)so it may take an effort.

It is a Lenham hardtop and as far as I know the hardtop was sold as an optional extra by the dealer when the car was bought new in London in 1981. It was exported privately to South Africa that same year.

I bought it in 2005 from a relative of the original owner.

thanks for the mention gaz, my son bid on the top for me, said he was the highest bidder for about 3 seconds, and your right, the tops are attracting more now, no one i ask likes them but everyone wants one,...lol, my car will just have to fill with water a bit longer, as for yours, and the vinyl suggestion, must say was idea i thought of, or satin black, to give hint of a convertible top.

meanwhile i will keep looking, am sure one will turn up sometime, or i will eventually get some spare time to try to make some type of hardtop myself......

but look on the bright side, fit a hardtop and increase the value of your car at the same time now, the cars themselves will soon follow.....[:D]

Hey Gaz,

My SnugTop hardtop is a flat black on the outside, and is white vinyl padded on the inside. I'd say in your case, match the outside with the color of your car (the blue),and go with a lighter color inside (off-white,beige,etc),as it should give the feeling of more room/spaciousness. I think I paid $200 USD several years ago for mine, but I had never seen one offered for sale here (or on this coast) prior to that,so I bought it (all the way from Quebec, lol)

Chris
