A 1st for my 7 and I

Last night in San Antonio, Texas it snowed. I've seen snow before but never since I had my licence to drive. It has not snowed in San Antonio for about 5 or 6 years!

Today will be my first drive with the 7 in the snow![:D]

Hopefully it will start up since I took off the choke.[8D]

Some friends went down to Mesa, AZ for a several weeks ago. With in the week we saw on the news it snowed in Phoenix. Ha! They should have stayed here in Duncan, where we've had sunny days and rainy nights in the high 40's F.

Common conversation here with grandkids:

"Hey grandpaw, what's snow?" 'lil Joey asks.

"Snow is cold as ice cream and soft a marshmallows".

"Gee willikers, grandpaw, really?" says 'lil Joey.

"aw Grandpaw" says 'lil Sally. "you're just pulling our leg. Nothing is as cold as ice cream and soft as marshmallows."


OK, OK, so I don't have grandkids but if I did.....

Why did you remove the choke? That was a bad idea which you will realize as you run down the battery, then wear out your battery charger trying to revive it.

Either reinstall the FASD or convert to a manual choke. Your life will be easier and happier. Even when the summer temperature is over 100 degrees and the dew point over 70 degrees, the inherent cold blooded nature of a TR7 needs some choke to get started in the morning.

We do have around here Steve's excellent article on the overhaul of the FASD unit which I'm sure he will be only too happy to usher you to, and thru.

Well I did not remove the choke completely. I did indeed put the manual choke in but I could not install the cable. So I do have it in but just always closed. The water choke broke so thats why I had to change it. It runs great now.

Ok seriously, take it from someone who drives in snow on a regular basis and has experience with it, DON'T TAKE THE TR7 OUT IN THE SNOW! It can go ok in the snow if you know how to drive in it but since you have never driven in snow before I wouldn't risk wrecking it. Take another car out to a parking lot to fool around with but not the TR7. If you absolutely must, put a bunch of weight in the trunk.

According to our weather girl on TV we were 15C warmer than Dallas today. (that's 27 degrees in American.)[:D]

It was so nice out I even washed the Toyota.[8D]

Be careful...LOL....A TR7 is a blast in the snow if you like to clown, turn circles or bootleg[:)]...short and QUICK spins[:p]...Make sure you have a lot of room[:p]...they don't stop very well[B)]...Wheeeeeeeee

28 degrees F in Houston this morning. High was 33 degrees F. Forecast is 20 degrees F tonight!!!

Yep, it's been sunny and in the 50s here, and we are farther north than Minneapolis. We usually keep our snow up on the mountain where it belongs. I used to chain up the TR6 to go skiing when I was young. I wouldn't recommend driving any Triumph in the snow, even with chains.[:D]

Well I was suppose to go into work at 9am that day but then it changed to noon because San Antonio drivers are dangerous in ice and snow. My manager didn't want anybody to get in a accident.

I ended up leaving at 11:30am with the 7 when all the ice and snow melted.[xx(]

I suppose the first time in the snow with the 7 will have to be another day... maybe when i'm more experienced with driving in snow but I did drive around in the snow with my FWD car to get breakfast.[8D]

Your snow would be welcome here right now.

I went to town this morning, & parked in the underground car park, at the shopping centre. Half an hour later the the cars inside temperature was 46 degrees.

That's 46 degrees centigrade, or about 116 F.

The lady thinks I'll be wasting money if I get air conditioning fitted to the 7. Of course she drives a near new, air conditioned modern, that has cost more in depreciation in less than 3 years, than the total cost of the 7, & 9 years running costs.

Female math is different somehow.
