No more leaks!

Postby macmattom » 19 Dec 2010 19:36

It is with great joy and excitement that I can declare I THINK I have fixed all my leaks (oil and water!). [8D][:D][:)][:D][8D]

I have struggeld for the past few months trying to figure out a water leak from the inlet manifold area, only to discover (with the help of you guys) that I had my inlet manifold gasket on back-to-front [:o)]. I resolved that and reassembled the inlet manifold assembly, only to discover another leak - I'd pinched the "O"-ring seal on the connector between the inlet manifold and the water pump cover [:I], but small as the leak was, it would have been stupid not to get it right now. So off it all came AGAIN, was rectified and reassembled and filled with water. After patiently filling the system with water, I have so far found no water leaks, hence I think I may have erradicated all the leaks [^][:p][^].

I will reserve final judgement until I can get back and check the car, but fingers crossed everything is now done. The brakes and clutch are holding the fluid, there is oil in the sump, water in the block, fuel in the tank and NO drips anywhere (yet). With any luck I will be able to crank her over soon, and the pressure won't blow any seals or gaskets. I will have to check the gearbox and diff oil, but apart from that I am ready to start the engine.

My plan from here will be to get the engine running, and then tinker about on the final details. I still have to put my dashboard back in, carpets in, doors back on and fiddle with the sunroof, but the list of jobs is getting smaller - great news.

I'll keep you informed.

Cheers,
