Removing cylinders from door locks without key

Postby Marsu » 27 Nov 2010 06:31

I've just had spare doors stripped, painted and fitted.

I am now refurbishing the door fittings. The lock and latch mechanisms on my orig are better than the spares I have.

I have two spare door lock cylinders to install that match the (newly installed) ignition barrel.

The issue is that I don't have a key for the passanger side lock and can't seem to remove the barrel from the lock without the key.

Has anyone got a solution?

Have you tried the key you have from the other door lock? I got lucky having several key sets laying around that I found one that was enough to remove the cylinder but not be the one to unlock it.....if that makes any sense?

Thanks Michael - your post reminded me I have another stash of keys to try. Hopefully one of these may do the job, else I'm going to have to keep trying to align the rods using some micro screwdrivers so I can slip the cylinder from the lock surround case.
