What is this wire for?

Postby UKPhilTR7 » 27 Oct 2010 19:32

Under my drivers seat I have two wires coming from the seat, with two connectors on each wire. The one wire goes to the fasten seat light on the dash, but I have no idea where the other one goes. Does anyone knwow what the other wire is for?

Maybe your driver's seat was once on the passenger's side? If so the wires could be from the pressure sensor.

It is possible to swap the seats over but the reclining lever will be nudging the transmission tunnel if left unchanged.

It's a long shot, but mine has both on the drivers side. One for the seat belt, one for the pressure switch, but it's a US build. Perhaps that was an 'added feature' [;)]

Yes there is. Mine works perfectly. It's a pain in the butt sometimes (so to speak).

Well I never know that. So if that is the case, where should the wire go into as I only have the one wire coming to the seat, the one for the dash light.

Divers side should only connect to the seat belt. Passenger has the pressure pad as well.

However my car is like yours and had a pressure pad on the driverside as well, but it isnt used and I have have removed mine.

Logically there will always be a driver so no need for the pressure pad.

Mine had pads on both seats too, long since discarded - all part of the general 'wasteful' approach at Leyland - no wonder they lost money on every car. It would be just too difficult to specify pads on LH seats for RHD cars - and pads on RH seats for LHD cars........
