Headlamp flash

Postby prlee » 17 Sep 2010 17:52

I know this subject has been well covered, but I couldn't find anything similar.

I am having an intermittent problem with the lamps lifting on headlamp flash - no problem until this week.

The headlamps wont lift on flash - unless the headlamps have been switched on and off by the master light switch, then no problem.

The master switch is new - well 18months ago when the car came off the road. I have no problems with the headlamp operation by the master light switch.

Tomorrow I will clean all the connector under the bonnet tomorrow, any thing else I should look at?

The head lights pop up when you flash the brights. I had no idea![:0]

Not on North American Cars. Flash your lights before passing someone in US might just spark an incident of road rage. Just not done.

Thanks for the info. Would have probably torn it apart to fix it

Try cleaning the contacts inside the column switch.

By the time the pods have raised the reason for the flashing has usually passed but I'd rather have the option of being able to flash than not. Sometimes though I accidently flash the lights when all I wanted to do was indicate a RH turn!

just out of curiosity spyder ....do your lights flash just the same though??? Even though my pods don't raise....my flash to pass still works (but basically just lights up the road and back of the frt bumper)

Thanks Peter, I will check the column contacts. Agree that the flash is to slow to be useful, I usually flash the front fogs or wave, maybe able to use it to say hi to another Triumph if I spot it soon enough[:)]

Looks like its a poor connection onto the Pektron unit. Gave the Pektron a wiggle and it has worked since.
