Jim,

Word of advise - take the headlight shells out of the car and paint them separately. You will get a much better job.

You know, the last time I did that on my TR7 and they never matched the rest of the car. So I'm trying it this way this time. They'll put the pods down after the sides are done then spray the rest of the car. We'll see.

I think that's the way to do it Jim, the edges of doors, light pods, etc. should be be done as a separate spray then the openings (can't think of the right word) are round taped off for feathering and the outer surfaces are then sprayed so the paint is layered down the same way as the surfaces surrounding. It is most critical on metallic paint so the metal lays down the same way. It presumably can be done the other way by someone who really knows his stuff but you stand a better chance of even finish at all viewing angles by doing it this way.

That makes sense. The TR7 was white with blue pearl. The headlight covers were always bluer than the rest of the car. I didn't want that to happen with the metallic green that we picked for the TR8.
