Resistance is futile

Postby samco » 23 Jan 2008 16:38

I have just spent a whole day rebuilding my heater with new foam and seals for the matrix. Whilst bench testing it I found only the third speed worked. The fault was tracked back to the overheat device in the board with the first and second speed resistors. The overheat device (or thermal cut out) was badly corroded so I decided to get one from one of the other two heaters I had on the garage floor. Although one of them worked they were all badly corroded and I decided not to re fit any of them as I am trying to build in reliability. I have ascertained they are not available new so I am left with the choice of bypassing it completely (not my first choice) or hopefully someone has sourced one from another vehicle which can be adapted to fit. Any suggestions?

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.
