What's it look like for Wedges this year? Any forum members going. I finked out last. But I'm sure I had a good excuse.

I'll be there, as usual. It looks like there are 8 TR8s, including mine, and only one TR7 registered so far. The list is pretty up to date. I just registered yesterday and I show up already. FISpider is the only TR7 registered so far, it looks like he was 6 registrations behind me. LastTR is registered with his TR8 too. Only 411 total cars registered so far, so I would expect more wedges and every thing else. TR7s and TR8s have their own classes this year so if no more TR7s register Merv is guaranteed a first place. We need more wedges, period. No excuses this year Nick. Get your banging noise figured out and motor on up here. [:D]

Jim,
I'm planning on it even though I haven't registered yet. I have to make a trip to the midwest next week and I hope to be back in time.

Just to bump this back up.... This event is coming up this weekend.
There are 11 TR8s and only one TR7 registered. This is only a little more than half of what we had last year. Last year we were outnumbered only by the TR6s. Let's get some more wedges.

It was a very hot weekend but I survived another camp out. We didn't have as many Wedges as last year. The total was 15 I think. Of the three TR7s only FISpider still had the original engine. The other two had Buick V6s in them. The rest of us were TR8s (or conversions.)

looks like a fantastic venue Jim, thanks for sharing with us!!

So from what I can you run the roadcourse as well as show your car??
(this is something I'm starting to think would be cool, I've had my fun with sitting in a open field chatting about cars...)

-and is that a 'vette engine in the TR4??

Ron.

There are actually two simultaneous events going on. The All British Field Meet car show and swap meet and the Columbia River Classic vintage car races. If you are entered in the ABFM you can drive in the giant slalom that runs through pylons on turn 9 and part of the main straight of the track. There are British race cars there for the Columbia River Classic and in fact the last race Saturday was an "All British" race. Camping has become more difficult since the two events joined up. The racers tend to take up more space with their gigantic motor homes and trailers. FISpider and LastTR were barely able to squeeze their little tents in when they arrived Friday evening. I got there around 1 Friday afternoon and it was a bit snug. The merger was done for financial reasons and has helped keep both events viable. It is fun not just watching old cars race but having the noise associated with them in the background while looking at cars. I plan on doing it again next year.

More information, if you like, at the two organizations web sites.

And yeah that is a LT1 vette engine in the TR4. A very clean installation and it even oddly sounds kind of like a TR4, when idling at least. ;-)

Little Late getting around to posting pics. I did get first place in TR7 category. A nice drinking glass with ABFM logo etched on it with First Place on it as well. Would have got nothing if not separate category I expect if Ken and Jim Hadn't lobbied for separate category..

Here's the link to the slide show:
