Get Thomas to America Run 3rd September

Postby Triton7 » 08 Aug 2011 14:36

Andy Yeomans is organizing a Classic/Vintage car & bike run for charity on the 3rd September 2011.

All the proceeds of this event will go towards the charity called Get Thomas to America in association with the Caudwell Children.
Thomas is a 10 year old boy who has Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy and Andrew is hoping to get him to America for a life changing operation to enable him to walk normally without pain.
It is a fantastic operation but can only be done in America at a cost of £55,000 (£20,000 raised so far)

The run will take in some of the spirit of the Coventry Run (if you are familiar with that), and travel through Warwickshire's towns, villages and beautiful countryside.

Andy currently has permission for 50 vehicles but obviously he cannot stop more from following along.

Starting at Coombe Abbey park, meet at 9.15 am for 10.00 am departure, the procession will be organised into groups of 10 vehicles. Each group will be allocated a stop point at a designated pub.

Each group will stop at least once and for a half an hour duration to allow the public to view the cars and to donate (buckets supplied), whilst the rest of the vehicles continue along the route.

This event will be advertised in the local press and radio so to attract the general public, which will hopefully make a great atmosphere at each venue.

All cars will join up again at the last groups stop and then on to the finish point which will be in Stoke Golding (Thomas's home village)where Andy will present all the money raised from the day.

All vehicles must be taxed, MOT and road worthy. Drivers are liable for any damaged caused by their vehicles.

This event will only take responsibility for 50 vehicles any other vehicles that take part do so at their own risk (but all are welcome)

There is no entry fee but a donation (£10) towards this is great cause would be gratefully received.

Route maps and itineraries will be supplied on the day.

We raise just short £800 on the day, it was great to be in a run with Lanchester, Morgan 3 wheelers, Corvette Stingray, Bugatti, Mustang Mach II, Stags, V8 Pick ups, E types and loads of Minis and many more.

Great Day out and a worthwhile cause.
