TR Register, Harrogate 29th-31st July

Postby John Clancy » 12 Jul 2011 15:49

Anyone that can get along to Harrogate and represent the TR7/TR8 models please make the effort. The Register event is always worthwhile but rarely much in the way of our favourite TR's there. It would be nice if a whole load of cars turned up along the lines of Billing.

And as I can't make it please can we have plenty of pictures from those that do get there so we can all see what we've missed.

Final note is that Howard Pryor won the concours with his TR8 last year so it will be great if something similar happens again.

John, that might make the long journey north worth it all on it's own.

To be fair, I don't think there is another club as friendly as the TRDC so Billing is bound to stand out for that reason. But I do think the Register have come on in leaps and bounds in recent times and there is no doubt a heck of a lot of effort goes into their national weekends. I'd love to be going but I just don't have the time owing to all the other events I'm attending for filming reasons.

Don't forget to take your cameras chaps!

Our International Summer Meet is held on the last weekend of July (this year it's on Öland, in the
Baltic Sea). Usually with people from lots of Northern European countries attending, so not as much
one-country only as Billing was when I checked it out.

Can't wait for the International Weekend this year. Autotest course, Stunt driving demo's from Russ Swift, the famous disco PLUS really looking forward to taking the TR up the Harewood Hillclimb this year for some fast runs (praying for dry weather!).

Great place to have it as well because the roads and scenery round there are amazing!

See you all then!

Although may in my daily [:(] but a lot cheaper on fuel and as said before milage mounting on the V8 insurance, dam its such good fun to drive that thing !!

Odd, a truly international event would be great would have to up my limited milage policy for that or pull the speedo [;)]

Cheers John

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> OK, I'm trying to unfog my memory - I think we had participants from Finland, Germany, Denmark,
Norway and Sweden last year (I might have missed someone though...). Cars of most possible models
were represented, from an 1800 Roadster to several TR8's (including one of those famous Canadian '82s).
(A couple of years ago we even had a German Triumph Italia track-day/racing car coming. That was
an interesting one! ) When it comes to Wedges we usually get far more TR8 than TR7 attending - due
to the fact neither were sold up here originally and the nowadays import priority seems to be mainly
focused on efi 8's...

A little tidbit:
Preparations for the Saturday tour in 2008 (first half of the bunch, the ones who drove clockwise).
Note the 2000 Mk2 Convertible...:

Sounds like we have a more forgiving insurance scheme in our Club/Federation: "The annual mileage
should be limited." But WHAT the limit is haven't been stated, so it's in reality UN-limited. Cost is the same
for whatever your annual use is - as an example: the fee for my '8 is SEK 667 / year (roughly GBP 65)...

Hi Odd,

Thats a very impressive turn out and the weather looks like 'our' Stevie ordered it [8D] Excuse my ignorance but at a guess you benefit from a lot lighter evenings too ( not sure how far north the event is )

Cheers john
