Just like last year, we lose what was a really good show, always containing a couple of wedges and likely to have had some more this year. (Mine, possibly, allegedly, maybe).
From South Lanarkshire Council's website:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances this years Chatelherault Classic Auto Rally on Sunday 16 August has had to be cancelled."
It would appear that the council has lost the major event sponsor, according to rumour.
I know they have to provide stewarding, temporary parking, safety-related attendees etc but surely an alternative could be found rather than another cancellation. The event attracted thousands of visitors every year from a wide area which no doubt bring in extra income to the park and surrounding area.
Anyway, I'm sure there are very good reasons for the decision even although it's more than a little disappointing.
