Santa Pod RWYB Sunday 2nd Nov

Postby busheytrader » 22 Oct 2008 15:51

Hi,

Page 3 of TR Action mentions a Run What Ya Brung session up at Santa Pod in about 10 days or so.

Is anyone taking their Wedge up there? I've got a chance of getting there and always fancied letting the V8's lungs breathe properly.

Cheers,

Adam

Some of the Guys on the TR Register Forum organised this and TR Yoof jumped on as well to take part:

The TR Register have gathered a few together and booked Santa Pod Drag strip for the day. The event is called "Run What ya Brung" and for £10 in and £20 sign on fee you get as many runs throughout the day as you wish.

If it's a success it could well be a regular event for us.

Check the website: http://www.rwyb.co.uk/

Arrival is at 8.30 AM for a 9 AM sign on.

If you are likely to travel at over 110 MPH then a crash helmet is required - PLEASE BRING ONE as it doesn't appear like they hire them out!!

Also your reccomended to run roof up, if like hero Dumelow, you can't then you need to wear arm restraints, these are cheaply bought from the likes of Sparco and attach your elbow to the seat belt or steering wheel.

No passengers are allowed in the car on track.

Sounds good, only i am out of car tax at the end of the month.
And the track will be quite slippery in November if it's cold.
If it rains, they stop the racing untill it stops raining and the track dries. But could be fun for the "Yoof" to have a go.
I hope someone can organise something next year aswell, the shows are good, especially the Retro Show.
Cheers
Phil

Hi,
[:I] Addictive, whoops [:I]
The Retro show fell this year on the TRDC National weekend, if it happens again would make a good Saturday run destination. Lots of good lanes between Santa Pod and Northampton and not a million miles either.
Cheers John

Well it was an expensive washout for me early this morning.

A very very nice man from the AA got the 7V8 going again when the starter wouldn't work after filling up locally. (The cable to the solenoid had broken up internally)

He checked the readings from the alternator and battery whilst the bonnet was up and found the battery was on its last legs. It wasn't holding its charge and was ready to die. So back home I bought and fitted a replacement.

I'd promised my son a run in the 7V8 so we headed up there anyway. Even though the local weather looked dire, the BBC website proclaimed Pod to be dry all day. Yeah right......what a washout. I don't think anything had ran at all earlier and we left as it was still raining. We'll try again next year.

I must recondition and reconnect the heater across this winter...........

Hi,
I thought it would be a washout [:(] I was listning to 'Nitro FM' (http://www.santapod.co.uk/g_nitro.php) Santa Pods own radio station, worth tunning into before you travel to check weather, can be listened to on your PC, and the track was very slippery and cold and then to top it all it rained, have a look at the picture at the base of this linked thread-
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... 03210&i=40

Thats what happens when a hugely DETUNED top fuel funny cars trys to make a pass, and who say's that drag racing is a straight line sport [;)]
Will be up there next year, loads of RYWB events through out the year, the best being the Retro Show by far-

Hi went along on Sunday just in case any Yoofs were brave enough to go despite the weather warnings.

I think all in all 4 TR's came and went throughout the day including me, thats all. Was a proper wash out.

A real shame but they have them throughout the year so maybe a date in summer might be a better idea next time.
