I've picked up my Wilwood brakes after a 954km round trip, (I laugh when some of you blokes think a 100km trip is too far for parts) mind you the trip was about 120km longer than it needed to be after I got there and realised that I'd left my wallet back where I was staying and had to make a mad das...

Re: More reliable than a modern?

All French stuff like Poogoats etc. is and always was to be avoided, they used to make great cars once, upmarket things such as Delages, Talbot-Lagos, Delaheyes and of course Buggatis.....(the modern Buggati does not really count as French being a VAG product) but with the mass production stuff, the...

Re: Rocker cover gaskets for v8

I don't appove of the fashion of using bloody silicone muck all over engines, as the excess can ouze out and break off, travel though out to lubriction system and block off something important. I've seen it happen! On cork gaskets I use permatex No. 3 aviation grade non-hardening gasket seal...

Re: 1980 TR7 Dies.

Sounds like a crap battery connection, pull off both terminals and give both of them and the battery terminals a bloody good clean, then do the same with the positive cable at the starter motor and the negative cable where it grounds to the body. Next, refit the terminals and tighten them properly. ...

Re: MX5 & LS400 Engine Conversions

Electric power has no place in classic cars (unless of course, they were electric, to begin with.....can't think of any myself) it would defeat the whole purpose of classic cars.

Re: Rheostat

This washer is it quite thick and has 2 or 4 notches on its visible face?... If so then it's actually a nut, that requires a special tool to remove, although you can usually undo these nuts with a pair of right-angle internal circlip pliers.

Re: Engine Rebuild Advice

I second the motion for an EWP. For such as ours that aren't in or ever likely to be in the stratospheric value league like classic Buggatis or Ferarris, I say Bugger original.... you only ever end up the factory original problems coming back again and again. Which perpetuates and cements our cars p...
