That's the problem, people think they have to push the boot lid to close it. With the early stay, lift the boot lid slightly and it will unlatch. And you can than lower it gently. Both my current cars came with gas struts. And I tried various new items (including up-rated factory grade) but none las...

I have been using Bosch 6V coils for as long as I drive my TR7's (since 1988), never had any problems
How did you measure the voltage @ the coil?

On my '76 FHC I have decided to move the coil to the "later" position.
It's better protected there from oil, dirt and heat!
And I did have a few spare brackets from some later cars ...

In that case you have to bypass the ballast wire in the loom, otherwise you'll only get 6V at the coil

Coil mount for early cars, but never deleted on the later ones ...
Very useful to fit a fuel filter :mrgreen:
