Re: Fitting New Weather Seals (TR7 DHC)

The old ones have some kind of internal metal stiffener but the new ones on sale now are floppy rubber only. I found the new ones much more difficult to fit. Luckily I spotted some good used old ones when I was visiting Steve Wilcox at S&S and bought them before he had a chance to advertise the...

Re: Respray in what paint ?

Many Wedges were painting in TPA:

I believe single stage urethane will probably come the closest to looking like the original paint. Base/clear is easier to paint, especially with metallics.

Re: Rocker cover gaskets for v8

I use the rubber Land Rover gaskets. They have a nice feature of having a metal spacer to keep you from over tightening them. They have a not so nice feature of a metal spacer that can fall inside your engine and do a number on your cam. That said, I still use them, just now make sure all of the spa...

Re: Oxygen-Sensor TR7 FI-engine

I know one of our Triumph specialists uses Bosch gear to get the injection in TR6 systems working properly. Perhaps the Lucas gear is mostly patterned on the Bosch. Hasbeen For the Wedge, the FI parts are Bosch, in many cases with just a Lucas label stuck on. The major exception is the TR8 ECU, app...

Re: Car Transporter's "Interesting Car List"

It looks like a New York license plate. Given the GMC vans in the background, and what looks like "Bronx" on one of them, I suspect it is New York.

Re: Engine Rebuild Advice

What would be the purpose be to paint it internally, surely not for anti corrosion, not to make it look good for the buyer, and why waste the time and money? I've seen some claims about painting the inside of the block to increase flow of the oil back to the sump. I'm not sure I buy it, but it is a...

Re: Door Lock Jammed

This is also caused by the anti-burst latch needing lubrication. You just need to shoot some oil into the slot high and low. I usually oil the door mechanism at the same time. Edward Hamer Petaluma CA And how I know it is time to clean/lube that latch is when I open the door, and then a few moments...

Re: the famous clutch master cylinder

Slave, leaked out rear, having read the items about not pulling the push rod forward , how risky/difficult is it to do without it coming forward when removing the cylinder, or should I get the mobile mechanic ? The rod isn't attached to the slave, and there is a plastic clip that holds the rod to t...

Re: Headlamp relays

Odd Hedberg has a really nice write up, including part numbers to make a system that plugs into the harness. It mounts on the opposite side where the A/C relays would be if you have A/C. I plan to make that up some day. The latest TWOA bulletin (38) has a article using some of the off-the-shelf rela...

Re: Soft top press stud fitting tool

I finally found the version that goes into your vise grips. I think this is the best option if you are only doing a few. If you where doing more, I would invest in one of the higher-end options:

Re: Soft top press stud fitting tool

There is a pliers type that you can get at a fabric store, but they are often pretty weak, so I would not recommend them for a soft top. I've seen types that fit over vise grips, and there are various heavier duty types. Here is perhaps the very best, but pricey: http://www.sailrite.com/Pres-N-Snap-...
