Re: TR7 Water Pump - Davies Craig EWP80

I Used the Controller...it replaces the thermostat. This allows you to set the temperature that you want the engine to run at, and it turns the fan on when the engine is 3 degrees above the set temp., and turns it off when it drops to 2 degrees below the set temperature. The fan would only come on a...

Re: Waxstat carb jet conversion kit

Hi Phil, Are you back home? The conversion to non wax-stats is a straight forward bolt in job...a bit finnicky, but no machining required. The carbies tend to wear where the brass shafts that carry the butterfly valves pass through the alloy body. This is equivalent to an air leak and causes idling ...

Re: TR7 Water Pump - Davies Craig EWP80

I silver soldered brass plates on the top and bottom of the existing pump cage, and used core plugs to block the holes in the manifold and pump cover. The existing heater returns to the pump cover, which works because this is a low pressure point when using the mechanical pump. When the EWP is used ...

Re: I am restoring my TR7 DHC

I always preferred this forum to FB, as its main focus is the cars, whereas, on FB, the focus
is on people.
PhotoBucket's changes to its business model almost put an end to these forums.

What is the preferred method for attaching pictures now?

I had no idea that there were 100,000 TR7's left.

In this part of the world, you see more Ferrari's than TR7's.

Re: POWER STEERING

TR7 Steering effort seems to be related to the caster angle...those with positive caster tend to have heavier steering than those with 0 caster angle. I think this is why we get varying results from fitting needle-roller swivel bearings...some report a big improvement, while others say there is litt...

When you see the wiring under the dash, it's no surprise that things stop working.

Re: POWER STEERING

I used a Subaru "L" Series, 1979-1984 PAS rack, Volvo 240 Tie-rods and Ford pump on my last TR7, and it drove well. I'm adapting a Barina (Corsa) electric system for my current project, as the Subaru ones are extinct in this part of the world. The Corsa processor has 3 maps for different s...

The longitudinal member that supports the seat is meant to be welded to the bulkhead
to absorb the thrust of the trailing arms when accelerating.

Re: Oxygen-Sensor TR7 FI-engine

It will most likely be a single or 2 wire narrow band sensor that outputs between .1 and .9 volts. If it has 2 wires, the white one is normally the signal, and the black one is ground. A narrow band sensor only indicates that the AFR is over or under 14.7:1. The most commonly used thread is 18X1.5, ...

Re: Engine Rebuild Advice

More of our engines have been destroyed by that water pump than anything else. It was a flawed notion from the outset, designing a cooling system that had low and high pressure points in the block. It was located where it is in the first place because SAAB wanted to use the engine in a FWD car, so t...

Re: Wheel Vibration (with a twist)

Have you checked the uni-joints in the steering rod.
Play in these joints can result in a wheel-wobble in the straight-ahead position which
disappears when you turn the wheel.
