IIRC on one of the government websites, it said that once you’ve sent off your application for historic status and free road tax, you’re good to go on the roads. Still looking........ I kept photocopies of all the necessary forms in case I was stopped, even though I have a Road tax receipt from the ...
I think so. I don’t know why April is the cut off date. I had to wait until April 2021 to register mine as an historic, as it didn’t turn 40 years old until after April 2020.
Everything on the blue circuit board looks so fragile, I handle it as carefully as possible. I’ll keep this clip safely until I have to open up the dashboard again.
I had to replace a warning bulb in the dashboard. I hate removing the binnacle. After I’d returned the binnacle back to its home and screwed everything together, I found this white plastic part looking lost in the footwell. I’m assuming it came out of the binnacle housing. Does anyone recognise this...
My wedge is now displayed online as taxed but without an MOT. But you can’t obtain road tax without a valid MOT... The historic MOT exemption declaration is handwritten as is the V5 change to historic class so it’s not surprising that it lags behind a bit, more so with strike action. The government ...
Mine was on SORN for about 2 months before I applied for historic status and historic tax simultaneously. The lady at my post Office was very switched on and I don’t see my area chock full of 40 year old cars either And this is in a tiny sub post office desk in a small newsagent. I guess the histor...

Ive found that new brake pads can be noisy when bedding in, even when not applying them, as they scrape off the top layer, especially the EBC green stuff etc type.
Amazing how noisy the brakes are with bare metal floors and no baked bean tin lids in them.
At the local post office this morning I expected a long wait as I applied for Historic vehicle status, Historic vehicle mot exemption status, and FREE Historic annual road tax simultaneously. I’ve had the engine capacity on the V5 as 3528cc for over 30 years. It took less time than starting up my wi...
Yes Russ, that’s the culprit. 40 plus years on from a loom accommodating both manual and automatic gearboxes, I can see why owners recreate the red/white wire bypass loop inside the cockpit. No problem with the reversing lights, switched through the same connector. I last cleaned out that connector ...
Ok, the issue came back......the starter relay wasnt clicking Long story short, the connector above the bell housing / below the fresh air plenum needed its contacts cleaning. I don’t think I’d cleaned it out for over 30 years since I converted the car to V8. This part of the loom has the red white ...
